W.A.S.P. – Madrid 24th November 2006

Great show in a packed “Macumba”. Blackie Lawless was unstoppable (don’t know where he stills finds the energy). The guys on lead guitar and drums were also a force of nature, really good. They played mainly their old  and classic songs which was great: after an almost entire “the end” by the Doors as an intro, they opened up with “On your knees”, then “L.O.V.E. machine”, “Sleeping in the fire”, “The headless children”, “I wanna be somebody”, and finishing off with “Blind in Texas”. Blakie still rocks after all these years, a true metal hero and gret musician and professional.

Pietre Miliari

Two rock albums have had the greatest impact on myself. The first one is the 1978 “Live and Dangerous” by Thin Lizzy. I remeber seeing the live concert on the TV  one afternoon while at my grandmother’s house back what must have been 1989 and I was completely taken by this coloured bass player, his particular beautiful voice and the sound of the two twins lead guitars playing together.

The second one is obviously the 1991 “Nevermind” by Nirvana. Its impact on me has been huge, very hard to describe. It just fit with everything I was at the time and said all the things I needed to hear. I’ve lived with this album for about 15 years now and I never tire of it. All its tracks are considered now rock classics. This is really the album that started it all for me - going grunge, idolizing Kurt Cobain and rebel against the sytem. This album really inserted underground Rock into mainstream pop culture.

I can also mention here as bug influences on myself  1989 “Appetite for Destruction” by Guns and Roses and 1974 Led Zeppelin’s “The song remains the same”.

I would pay the most money I can afford only porbably to see The Smiths playing together again. I imagine them opening their first gig in Manchester in 2010 with “Stop me if you think you heard this one before”..or maybe “How soon is now”…who knows..I would have tears in my eyes, that’s for sure.

Old Indian

“Once upon a time, a woman was picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek. As she lay dying , she asked the snake, “Why have you done this to me?” And the snake answered, “Look bitch, you knew I was a snake.”
